DIY: Facial and Hair Treatments

Tired of spending so much money on facial and hair treatments? Why spend money on expensive products when you can make your own recipes using ingredients found in your kitchen! πŸ™‚ These recipes that I am sharing with you are great for all skin types. Enjoy! πŸ™‚

FACE

Egg Yolk and Yogurt Mask

Moisturizing and soothes skin.

Prep Time: 2 min.

Ingredients:

  • 2 egg whites, seperated from the yolk.
  • 2 tablespoons of plain yogurt

Prep and Application:

Seperate the egg whites from eggs, add two tablespoons of yogurt and mix. Apply all over face, leave it for about 15 minutes then rinse in warm water, followed by a warm washcloth.

Oatmeal and Yogurt Mask

It will cleanse and rejuvenate skin.

Prep Time: 3 min.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon oatmeal, finely ground.
  • 1 tablespoon plain yogurt
  • A few drops of honey

Prep and Application:

Mix yogurt and oatmeal. Warm a few drops of honey. To do this, warm a spoon under hot water for a minute, then add honey to spoon. Mix everything together and apply mask to the face, leaving it on for 10 minutes, rinse with warm water and dry with warm washcloth.

Pumpkin Mask

Brighten, calms breakouts, and softens appearance of fine lines and sun damage.

Prep Time: 10 min.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup fresh pumpkin pulpΒ 
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoon almond milk (for dry or combo skin)
  • 1 teaspoon honey (for dry skin)
  • 2 teaspoon apple cider vinegar or cranberry juice (for oily skin)

Prep and Application:

Mix the fresh pumpkin pulp into a thick paste. Add egg. For dry skin add the honey and a little bit of almond milk, for oily skin, instead add the apple cider vinegar or cranberry juice. Apply mask, leaving it on for 15 minutes, depending on your skin sensitivity. Rinse with cool water and moisturize as usual.

HAIR

Banana and Avocado Deep Conditioning Treatment

Good for all types of hair, specially dry hair. Gives hair a nice healthy shine and repairs dry ends.

Prep Time: 5 min.

Ingredients:

  • 1 bananaΒ 
  • 1 avocado
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Prep and Application:

Mix all of the ingredients, use blender for creamier finish. Before you apply, shampoo hair, comb out and towel dry. For dry hair AND scalp, apply all over hair including scalp. For not so dry hair, only apply to midshaft and ends of hair. Put hair in a shower cap and leave in for 20 minutes. Rinse hair well enough to take out leftover banana or avocado!

Sunflower Oil Rinse

Good for dry hair and scalp.

Prep Time: 3 min.

Ingredients:

  • Sunflower oil
  • Comb
  • Warm wet towel

Prep and Application:

Apply a quarter-size amount of sunflower oil to damped hair and to your scalp, and massage. Comb the oil through ends of hair, wrap hair in a hot wet towel for 30 minutes. Shampoo hair throughly and comb out.
